Matt and I went down to Mission/Vancouver this weekend to go to Warped Tour. It was my first time ever going, but he's been before. After showing up over an hour late (and missing Underoath!), the day was off to a bad start. We watched a few bands play, and then it was time for our favorite band - A Day to Remember. We were so excited. We pushed our way to the front before it started, and the crowd was already pretty wild. I was surrounded by huge guys who insisted on elbowing me in the gut.
The band starts playing and we are having a blast, it is really rough since we are in front of the mosh pit and everyone is pushing us, but it's still fun. Then about half an hour into the show, I get blindsided in the back of the head by someone crowd surfing, first they kicked me in the head really hard, which got me halfway down, and then they were thrown, landing right on top of my head. I was in a lot of shock, since the person came from behind and I didn't even see them coming. I was crying hysterically (not really like me) and couldn't stand up. Matt picked me up and carried me out firemen style.
He laid me down on the grass and a medic came over, I was still really hysterical at this point, but he calmed me down and was trying to ask me questions. He determined that I had a possible spinal injury, since someone landed on top of me he was afraid of a compression in my neck. So they put a neck brace on me and held my head still until the emergency doctor could get there. Soon I was surrounded by what felt like 15 medics, they rolled me onto a board and strapped me in so I couldn't move. After the emergency doctor did some tests and asked me some questions, she told me I would most likely be fine, but I still had to have x-ray's just in case. Because if you think someone has a spinal injury, you always have to be sure.

The ambulance finally arrived, and the firetruck, although I couldn't see any of this since I couldn't move my head. And two of them carried my board backstage and put me on a stretcher, where I was then put in the ambulance. I was a little less freaked out at this point, the shock was starting to wear off but my head hurt like no other. Matt rode with me in the ambulance of course, which how we got these once in a lifetime pictures. Once we were at the hospital and all the nurses had finished all their questions and vitals, it was a long wait for the doctor. He said I would need x-rays, and about an hour later I was finally wheeled away. After the x-rays it was about 3 more hours until I was released. I was very frustrated and in a lot of pain because my head was in an extremely tight neck brace, and they had molded this board around the back of my head so I couldn't move it whatsoever for about 5 hours. That board was digging into my head making my headache unbearable.
Nevertheless the doctor eventually came over and had me move my neck, apparently my x-ray's had come back with no bad signs. We were finally released after 8pm, Warped Tour was over and we caught a cab back to our car... never to return to Vancouver again!
