appeal:
the power or ability to attract, interest, amuse, or stimulate the mind or emotions.
see also: allure, attraction, attractiveness, beauty, charm, charmingness, engagingness, fascination, glamour, interestingness, pleasingness, seductiveness
attract:
to draw by a physical force causing or tending to cause to approach, adhere, or unite; pull [as opposed to: repel]
to draw by appealing to the emotions or senses, by stimulating interest, or by exciting admiration; allure; invite
see also: appeal, allure, captivate, bait, charm, enchant, pull, seduce
so I ask you. what appeals to you? what attacts you? to things? to people? to places? to events? what do you think other people are attracted to?
I am a person who buys something appealing to me. I am attracted to it, and I like it. Things that appeal to me are vintage looks, punk rawk, bright colors, contrasting, edgy, mod paterns, and self confidence.
I see none of these in church. lets get some more mod paterns.

Tonight's YOUth church went awesome, I personally think the whole year has been awesome, and I am dang excited for what's to come. We played "The Stand" and "Came to My Rescue", both Hillsong United songs. Very good I might add. [yah everything by them is good] Justin and I were both surprised by how well the band picked up and were able to play their parts. We had stalled these songs until now because we thought they were not ready yet, but they really proved they were, me on the other hand... haha. No, they went well. I just minorly forgot to go back to a certain chorus, but I thought as a whole they went very well. And I might add that I was very encouraged by how the group was responding. I find that I lead songs I like better as opposed to songs I dont like. Well, I dont think "like" is even the right word. "comfortable", "confident", or "good at leading" might be the words.
Brad and Justin apolagized for showing the video last week. well, they apolagized that it was graphic and that it made some people uncomfortable. it made me very mad they did this. they shouldnt have to apologize for showing the truth, for opening people's eyes, for showing what's REALLY out there. yah, it is graphic. but you know what? those ARE kids who are living that. those were KIDS in the graphics. they live through it everyday; and I dont think its a bad ideas to show spoiled american 12 year olds that there are sufferning people out there. does it make any sense at all to tell people to close their eyes? to not see whats really out there? how will that help the situation? how do we ever expect anything to change if we are constantly shielding our fragile little lives. that stuff is real; that stuff is the truth; people need to know the truth. stop sugar coating the world. its time to look the hell around and realize that our churches, our houses, and our groups mean nothing without reality.

4:49 PM
We walked in kind of late to the 11 o'clock service. They were in the middle of playing a worship song. We sat towards the back of a section of rows. All of the rows were ground level, facing directly forward, except for the ones on the side that were angled slightly diaganol. I realized later that this was a benefit because I didnt find myself distracted constantly looking around at other people, like I often do in my own church. Something I noticed right away were the lights. There were no bright, flourecent lights. There were only dim shades hanging from the ceiling, a cool shape I might add. I expected real lights to come on after worship, but they stayed the same the entire time. I found it very relaxing, however I had not had a lot of sleep the night before and was tired. I also think this fact contributed to why I enjoyed the worship a lot. They didnt play worship songs that I have ever heard, they were more like songs that you would listen to on the radio. After they were done playing they even gave a plug for the new cd that they had released that you could buy in the gift shop. The band was very professional sounding and the lead vocalist had an amazing and constant tone [I couldnt see the stage, I dont know who he was]. Because we were in the second service the sermon, video taped live in the first service, was displayed on video screens across the sanctuary. When I heard that we would be watching this I found it very odd and thought it would detract from the message, but it really didnt. I was having a hard time seeing the stage anyways, and it was so dim that it really didnt make a difference to me anyways. The message was amazing in itself. It started with a video of Marc Driscoll [the pastor] at the Seattle Hemp Festival, interviewing a man about what the thought about religion. I really liked this because it was a.] bold for the pastor to go to a marajuana carnival. b.] it was the churches pastor, not some documentary pastor, not a guy who does a series of videos, it was the real pastor going out and saying that he was bold enough to do this. and c.] he was asking a real person i real question and listening to his real answer. "are you a religous guy?" and the man shared the truth. the message caught my attention in such a real way because driscoll was talking about something that i understood. the crucifcition of Jesus. he gave the history of crucifiction back in the day when Jesus was crucified, and he just layed out the truth of what had happened. it wasnt all this blah blah blah that I didnt understand and that didnt apply to me, because the truth of Jesus applies to everyone. its one of those closed hand things that you need to know.

yestreday we practiced as a worship band, even though we did not have musical worship last night at church. Anyways, we practiced The Stand, and I thought it went awesome! I am very excited and muy confident in playing it next week. [I thought I would throw in some espanol every once in a while for ya ;] School is going a little better attitude wise. I didnt fail my math quiz the other day, I actually think I did pretty stinkin well. And I got a really good score on my test and notebook in physics. Better grades make it a little easier to get through the day. OH YAH! I gave my "Pro-Life" speech in speech class yesterday, and it went amazing!! Im not even kidding, I had "Pro choice" people in my class, including my teacher, tell me that my speech convinced them. I had passion, i told them about Lauren and Makenna, I started getting choked up and almost cried. I was intense and had everyone on the edge of their seats, and addressed the issue of irresponsiblity in the world towards sex. And then when it was time to "critique" me on how I did, Jozy clark raised his hand and said, "Awesome job."
it made my day.
as for other things... well life is pretty nice right now. i have to say. I love Jesus, more than anything i love Jesus. me and him are like best friends ;D

if you could love me as a wife
and for my wedding gift, your life
should that be all i’ll ever need
or is there more i’m looking for
and should i read between the lines
and look for blessings in disguise
to make me handsome, rich, and wise
is that really what you want
i am a whore i do confess
but i put you on just like a wedding dress
and i run down the aisle
i’m a prodigal with no way home
but i put you on just like a ring of gold
and i run down the aisle to you
so could you love this bastard child
though i don’t trust you to provide
with one hand in a pot of gold
and with the other in your side
i am so easily satisfied
by the call of lovers less wild
that i would take a little cash
over your very flesh and blood
because money cannot buy
a husband’s jealous eye
when you have knowingly deceived his wife
and for my wedding gift, your life
should that be all i’ll ever need
or is there more i’m looking for
and should i read between the lines
and look for blessings in disguise
to make me handsome, rich, and wise

this song WAS getting old until the words started applying to me
3:30 PM
And I’m good, good, good to go
I got to get away
Get away from all of my mistakes
So here I sit looking at the traffic lights
The red extinguishes the hope that the green ignites
I want to run away I want to ditch my life
Cause all of my mistakes keep me awake at night
And after all of my alibis desert me
I just want to get by
I don’t want nothing to hurt me
I had no idea where my head was at
But if my heart says I’m sorry can we leave it at that
Because I just want for all of this to end
And I so hate consequences
And running from you is what my best defense is
Consequences
Oh God, don’t make me face up to this
And I so hate consequences
And running from you is what my best defense is
Cause I know that I let you down
And I don’t want to deal with that
It just now hit me this is more than just a set back
And when you spelled it out, well, I guess I didn’t get that
And every trace of momentum is gone
And this isn’t turning out the way I want
And after all of my alibis desert me
I just want to get by
I don’t want nothing to hurt me
I had no idea where my head was at
But if my heart says I’m sorry can we leave it at that
Because I just want for all of this to end
And I spent all last night
Tearing down
Every stoplight
And stop sign in this town
Now I think there might
Be no way to stop me now
I'll get away despite
The fact I’m so weighed down
All of my escapes have been exhausted
I thought I had a way but then I lost it
And my resistance was once much stronger
And I know I can't go on like this much longer
When I got tired of running from you
I stopped right there to catch my breath
There your words they caught my ears
You said, “I miss you son. Come home”
And my sins, they watched me leave
And in my heart I so believed
The love you felt for me was mine
The love I’d wished for all this time
And when the doors were closed
I heard no I told so’s
I said the words I knew you knew
Oh God, Oh God I needed you
God all this time I needed you, I needed you
And I so hate consequences
And running from you is what my best defense is
I hate these consequences

I need me time. Holy crap do I need me time. I realized this while I was working. I need it so much that after I got off word I went to Urraco and bought the proper "me time" products:
1. New Found Glory cd [brand-spankin-new]
2. fake tanning lotion [my favorite thing EVER]
3. really good smelling face exfoliatant
these may strike you as odd products. but they are things that I have needed/wanted [i guess you could say "longed for"] for a while. And having them makes me feel better. I "indulged" myself. And Im ok with that. I am now going to take a bath, because I have been cold for 3 straight weeks, and I want to feel some warmth. goodnight.

TV is just not real.
We dont share a house with gorgues room mates.
We dont have good looking doctors fighting over us at the same time.
We just dont.
But the one thing that we share with TV. The one fantasy, amost surreal indulgence that they have right, is love.
And when you find love, you don't dare let go of it. No matter what your head says. Even though everything inside of you is screaming that it's wrong. You dont let go of it.
Love is never perfect. it's hardly ever in the right timing, with the right thing going. You'll never not be insecure. Love is never perfect. Love is perfect enough without being "right".

I am REALLY excited about this upcoming series at YOUth Church. It's finally something I am SO excited about, because I want others to learn about social injustice. Don't get me wrong, I always love YOUth church, but this series is something that is HUGE and that we cannot over look. Well proven by me and my mom's conversation in the car after she picked me up:
me: "we are going to be learning about social injustice in Africa, Honduras, and Shelton."
my mom: "well that's not a very light topic."
me: "what are the point of light topics?"
silence.
very excited.
