Because of these recent abductions in daylight hours, refresh yourself of these things to do in an emergency situation...This is for you, and for you to share with your wife, your children, everyone you know. After reading this, forward it to someone you care about. It never hurts to be careful in this crazy world we live in.

1 . Tip from Tae Kwon Do : The elbow is the strongest point on your body. If you are close enough to use it, do!

2. Learned this from a tourist guide in New Orleans . If a robber asks for yur wallet and/or purse, DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM . Toss it away from you... chances are that he is more interested in your wallet and/or purse than you, and he will go for the wallet/purse. RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!

3. If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car, kick out the back tail lights and stick your arm out the hole and start waving like crazy. The driver won't see you, but everybody else will. This has saved lives.

4. Women have a tendency to get into their cars after shopping, eating,
working, etc., and just sit (doing their checkbook, or making a list, etc. I've been guilty of this too! DON'T DO THIS!) The predator will be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to get in on the passenger side, put a gun to your head, and tell you where to go. AS SOON AS YOU GET INTO YOUR CAR, LOCK THE DOORS AND LEAVE.

5. A few notes about getting into your car in a parking lot, or parking garage: A.) Be aware: look around you, look into your car, at the passenger side floor, and in the back seat. B..) If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the
passenger door. Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into their
vans while the women are attempting to get into their cars. C.) Look at the car parked on the driver's side of your vehicle, and the passenger side. If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get a guard/policeman to walk you back out.

IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. (And better paranoid than dead.)

6. ALWAYS take the elevator instead of the stairs. (Stairwells are horrible places to be alone and the perfect crime spot).

7. If the predator has a gun and you are not under his control, ALWAYS RUN! The predator will only hit you (a running target) 4 in 100 times; And even then, it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ. RUN!

8. As women, we are always trying to be sym pathetic: STOP . It may get you
raped, or killed. Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking, well educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women. He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked "for help" into his vehicle or with his vehicle, which is when he abducted his next victim.

9. Another Safety Point: Someone mentioned to me in a recent online discussion that her friend heard a crying baby on her porch the night before last, and she called the police because it was late and she thought it was weird. The police told her "Whatever you do, DO NOT open the door." The lady then said that it sounded like the baby had crawled near a window, and she was worried that it would crawl to the street and get run over. The policeman said, "We already have a unit on the way, whatever you do, DO NOT open the door." He told her that they think a serial killer has a baby's cry recorded, and uses it to coax women out of their homes thinking that someone dropped off a baby. He said they have not verified it, but have had several calls by women saying that they hear baby crying outside their doors, when they're home alone at night. The same goes for the "I've lost my dog/cat/something" approach.

Please pass this on and DO NOT open the door for a crying baby. This e-mail
should probably be taken seriously because the Crying Baby theory was
mentioned on America's Most Wanted recently when they profiled the
serial killer in Louisiana.

I'd like you to forward this to all the women you know. It may save a life. A candle is not dimmed by lighting another candle. I was going to address this
to the ladies only, but guys, if you love your mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, etc., you may want to pass it onto them, as well. Send this to any woman you know that may need to be reminded that the world we live in has a lot of crazies in it, and it's better to be safe than sorry.

it's so cold

it's been 10 days since I last wrote, many things have happened!

Matt and I had our one year anniversary this past Sunday. it was a great ball of fun. It was a really special weekend for us.

one year ago:

now:

School started on Monday, it was really nice having Matt with me the first two days just to help me find parking and help me be on time. I really like my classes. History is my favorite subject and Im really enjoying this class, plus I know some people in it who are my age. My english class is cool because I have already gotten to know everyone in it, we work in groups a lot. Yoga is just plain awesome. I had my first class on Wed. and I felt SO much better afterwards! I was really sore the next day though, haha. I dont stretch much...

On Monday I got a call from Starbucks asking me to do an interview with them the next day, it went really well and they called me the next day to do a second interview with the assistant manager. So I did that yesterday, I guess I will be finding out soon if I get the job! It is the Starbucks in the capital mall, which I think would be really fun.

It hasnt felt this good to sleep in in a LONG time. before school started I was really tired of doing NOTHING and hanging around the house all day, so I really appreciate school now and getting up early. so in turn I also really appreciate this saturday, haha.

21.5 million
Wednesday, September 19, 2007 11:36 PM
tonight I watched the movie Domino, which follows the titled character [Kiera Knightly] on her path to become a notorious bounty hunter. leading to, of course, an equally notorious crime. this is not important. what is important is that this movie got me thinking about lifestyle's and routines.

I brush my teeth twice a day, floss once, rinse once, wear retainers for 10-12 hrs a night. wash my face twice, shower every morning, one egg for breakfast, two fish oils, four glasses of water, one new pair of socks, etc. my life is routine. then I started thinking about my friends lives right now [my life in a couple weeks I presume]: go to school, go to work, come home and have some sort of personal fulfillment [reading, blogging, sewing, cooking, chatting, coffee, etc]

there are appx. 21.5 million [21,500,000] teenagers ages 14-19 years old in America. most of them probably having lives similar to me/my friends. their lives are probably filled with the same: school, learning how to break into a "real" carreer, minimum wage job, parental consent forms, trying to improve their own lives.

what if we had a draft. a draft of all the kids in high school. this draft would ask them, "what do you want to do with your life?"

you want to be a personal trainer? well here is a team of other students just like you, a gym, some mentors, and a target group [obese people] to change their lives. the kids would go to work during the day, learn from their mentors, help these people change their lives, their families lives, their communities lives, and get paid doing it.

you want to build houses? well here is a team of other students just like you, a plan, some mentors, and some impoverished people who really need houses. go to work everyday and build them houses and make money. impacting their whole lives and their families, impacting their community.

you want to be a doctor? a nurse? a translator? a lawyer? an entrapenuer? a teacher? well here is a group of students. go to Africa and make change. build hospitals, start businesses, teach children, teach safe sex, teach them how to fish.

the truth is that teenagers are dying to impact their communities. they're dying to start their "real lives" [as labeled by the world, really, their carreer/family/own life], they're dying to make change in this suffering world, they're dying to learn a trade that THEY WANT TO LEARN. the truth is that teenagers WANT to do something, they want to do it in a big way.

they dont want to wait until they've graduated high school, gone to college, gotten a degree, and created a family. they want to learn now and progress their whole lives. why are we taking such a huge and valuable chunk out of our youths lives but not enabling them to experience? why are we telling them not to grow up by sticking them in cookie cutter schools where arent focusing and arent excelling? why doesnt society teach them what they have learned and give them the resources to make an incredible difference in this world.

the truth is that most adults dont have time. dont have money to build houses for the poor on the side of the rich. they dont have resources to fight AIDS in Africa along side America. they dont have energy to teach foster kids in addition to their own.

but we do.

I dont care what you say, my generation will make change.

people are good

friends are better

he can make me smile, laugh, or cry with a only a few words. but he really is my best friend. most of you [well... all of you] dont know the unique qaulities that my best friend has like extreme patience, tolerance, and forgivness. this is the friendship I have been looking for.

if you know me you probably know that molly is my other half, for the past few years now. there's no one who I share more memories, fun times, and randomness with. inside jokes consume our friendship and that's the way I'd like to keep it. we will always stand by each other.

this guy has been my hang out buddy since this summer. most of my friends arent really up for "random driving times" but Storm always is. we always have laid back fun wether we're going to a show, football game, or dairy queen.

everyone loves lauree. it's just a fact. I have personal reasons for this however, haha. lauree understands things that only me, her, and adults understand. haha. we have the same mindset in a lot of areas, and I know that I can talk to her with serious stuff. but of course there's always the sarcastic stuff in between...

they're my best friends,

the end.

what the heck!!!

I have no idea why I am so tired. Yesterday I slept in until 1:30, today I slept in until 2:00. both of these days I woke up earlier in the morning, but I was soooo tired I just went back to bed. It's weird.

This will be the last week of my extended summer, and I hope the weather stays cold. I dont really like it when the weather switches from cold to hot everyday.

I went to the Ryan Johnson memorial show yesterday, it was long, and awesome. I was happy to see a lot of my friends there who I dont usually get to see. Like Brian, Lorenzo, Allison, Johnny, CJ, and Paul. I took a million pictures, you can check them out on my myspace under "My Photos". I love that I have really been getting a lot of good use out of my camera since I have gotten it. I think my parents were a little worried about that. Now I just need to take a day to sit down and figure out how to use it!

are we in high school yet?

tonight I went to the football game at Clover Park to watch Lakes vs. Shelton. A VERY good game. Lakes is the number one team in the state right now [I hear] and we gave them a pretty good challenge regarding that. We lost 21-41, but I still think we did great. I thought it was amazing how many fans from Shelton came. TONS! I guess I didnt know how many people travel because I dont think I have ever been to an away game before.

Something hit me as I was sitting there though. Years ago when I was in middle school and junior high I always [I think everyone did] envied the upper classmen at the football games. Sitting together, laughing, cheering, dressing up, it all looked like so much fun. As I sat in the middle of all my friends actually paying attention to the game for the first time I realized that I was there. I was the one who came up with all my friends, I was the one cheering, I was the one taking pictures. Now that Im here do I even notice? No. I felt lost because I havent been in school for so long. Groups broke up, people were with new people, I had to catch up. But what did I really miss? Had the thing I wanted all along suddenly become obsolete? I didnt even realize I was there. Am I in high school yet?

The fall is here. that means school, work, and church. [Interesting how that works, eh?] I just got all of my classes rearranged so it looks like this:

Monday-Friday: U.S. History
Monday-Wednesday: Intro to Yoga and Eng. 101

I am really excited about taking yoga. I have been doing it on my own for the past couple weeks so I am excited about actually having an instructor. I'm also really excited that I will be done at 12:50 on Monday's and Wednesday's and every other day I am done at 9:50. This frees up a lot of time for me [which I am happy about] I will be applying [somewhere that shall remain nameless for the URRACO girls who read my profile, haha] for a job soon and I hope this means I can get some good hours in.

This year the "THINK-TANK" [aka student leaders] will be serving the community outside of youth group. On Sunday afternoons we will be going to the food bank and helping them [not exactly sure what we're doing], and we're talking about other things such as canned food drives and helping serve at a dinner once a month. My girls group [no, we ARE NOT doing a bible study] meets at Kristi's house every Wednesday, and we are talking about doing child care once a month for parents so that they can go on dates.

For the past week I have been taking care of Makenna since Lauren cant and everyone else is at work. It's been kind of a handful trying to take care of her, wait on Lauren, AND clean up after the tornado that sweeps through the house everyday. But I really enjoy it. I have nothing better to do, and I LOVE hanging out with Makenna everyday. I feel good too when I can do stuff for my mom to help her de-stress with life. Anything I can do for her I will.

I feel like I shouldnt post about Rock for Sudan, because if you wanted to know you SHOULD HAVE CAME!! haha, I am just kidding. [but really... why wouldnt you?] We raised about $3,500 total, a big chunk of that [like half...] came from an anyonamous doner at church the next day. I didnt pick a very good day to sleep through my alarm appearently.

Rock for Sudan really did wear me out. Not just oversleeping the next day, but I also got sick, which I hear is common when you are preparing for something huge and then it's over. My feet havent hurt so bad in a long time, but it was all worth it of course. There were a ton of people there, about 100 altogether I estimate, but thanks to the smallness of c3 everything felt full. I was very encouraged when everyone was showing up. There is nothing in the world that could make me feel better.

Molly spent the night the day before [its tradition!] and helped me do stuff along with a million other people who I really appreciate. A HUMUNGOUS thanks goes out to...

well where to begin? I guess I will just tell you all a story...

The story starts at 3am when my mom heard a knock on the door and a dog barking outside. She went to the top of the stairs and saw at the window her WORST nightmare: a state patrol hat.

The conversation began something like this...

"Do you know where your [Kia] Optima is?"

"No."

"Well we believe it's been involved in a collision on Arcadia road."

Soon Makenna starts crying and my mom has to rock her back to sleep, and she waits until 7:30 when she wakes me up. She tells me that Lauren crashed the car and no one knows where she is, but the state patrol officer thought she probably hit her head on the windshield. Im shocked to say the least. My mom had taken my grandmas car home yesterday [my grandma went to the hosptial yesterday for what she thought was a heart attack, she is okay though] so she went to work. My dad had already gone to Bremerton [for work] earlier.

I watched Makenna all day and finally heard from my mom. My sister had called her and told her she was on her way to Mason General Hospital with a friend. My dad was on his way home and went there, again, I stayed home with Makenna.

A while later I learn that Lauren has a broken foot, a broken arm, and some bad head and rib injuries, along with a lot of bruising everywhere else.

The Kia, VERY, VERY, sadly, has been totaled. Also sad: Lauren is not on our insurance for that car.

Also sad: We now have one car for the four of us

Even more sadly: she can't walk, stand, or pick Makenna up.

september... weird...

apperently since Im not going to the high school I totally forgot school was starting so soon! I feel sorry for everyone who has to go back. This summer was weird... but good. There really wasnt that much super nice weather, but I sure did have a lot of good times that maybe I didnt realize until now.

I could capture this whole last year in a box so easily. Since Rock for Sudan, since dating Matt, sincing starting high school. It's all been so... fast. I never knew a year ago I'd be in love, I never knew I'd have a tattoo, I never knew I'd be so close with so many new people, I never knew a lot of things.

Life feels so exciting. Not just "excited for the fall" or "excited for school", I'm just excited for life. Every season that goes by is each so wonderful. Every year that goes by is so different from the previous. It's interesting to see how I grow up, how my friends grow up, and how, for some reason, people try to tell us not to grow up. People have told me a lot this year to not waste my youth. Why would I be wasting it? The most exciting part of being a youth is growing up! The best part about high school is that everyone knows it wont last long. The best part about friends is knowing they will. I know a lot of people think that people my age should just relax, have fun with their friends, go to the movies or to the mall, and do lots of other things. Which we do, but shouldnt we grow up eventually too? Can't we do both. We're not trying to have babies or buy a house, but we are growing up in the way of going to community college, getting in serious relationships, and having jobs.

Sorry about that rant. I guess I am just very content with where my life is and where it's going and how it will change in the future.
