The best part about Christmas this year was by far spending it with Matt. He was in Canada last year and I stayed down here. We wanted to be with his family this year but I couldnt take days off work.

On Sunday we went up to my aunt's house in Bellingham [longest drive... EVER] and had a dinner and gift exchange with my dad's family. My aunt's new three story mansion was far big enough to house all of us for the night. The next day we stopped by Levi and Jody's in Everett to exchange gifts with them and have dinner, since they would be at her family's on Christmas. It made me really happy to get to spend some alone time with baby Jacob [and by alone time I mean just with Levi and Matt, not the whole family] he is a super happy baby and I love playing with him.

Christmas morning was really different than it ever has been, mostly because Levi wasnt there. We all finally gathered in the living room at about 10am [that is the latest it's ever been] and opened our gifts.

Gifts were followed by an awesome bannana pancake and hashbrown breakfast, lol. And then we all spent the rest of the day relaxing and cooking. We had coconut shrimp and ham for dinner.

My parents are awesome and bought me giftcards to American Eagle and Origins Skin Care as well as a gift card to Best Buy for Matt. Yesterday while I was at work he surprised me by going to Best Buy and buying me a car stereo with his gift card and starting the installation. I am really greatful for him and everything he did for me this Christmas, I dont know how I would have felt without him here.

that is basically the story, I hope everyone elses holiday was just as wonderful!

these are some things that I am fully loving and newly appreciating right now:

1. the fact that it is SUPER SUNNY out today! I LOVE the sun in the winter

2. coming to a place with friends where you're not afraid to be honest and don't have to hide who you really are from them.

3. buying presents for everyone on my list AND managing not to spend all of my money.

4. $5 body cream's at bath and body works [I am a moisturizer freak]

5. getting more hours at work

6. making new friends and getting randomly reconnected with old ones

7. the new year. im very excited for january first!

I have REALLY enjoyed this holiday season, or this time that has been "leading up to" Christmas. I pretty much did all of my shopping in two days, and honestly, there's nothing I enjoy more than buying gifts for the people closest to me. the past few years I've had a hard time when it came to this. Who do I buy for? Do I have to buy for all my friends? What if they dont get gifts for me? But I've finally come to a realization that giving has no rules, and I can do whatever I want.



{DIFFERENT SUBJECT;}

I hate people who come into Starbucks with $100 bill and freak out on us when we cant break it. PEOPLE ARE TAKING MORE BILLS FROM US THAN THEY ARE GIVING.

when you go somewhere, just ask if they can break it before you order 5 drinks. even though at Starbucks if we can't break it, we'll give it to you all for free [generally].

in this big world, im just a small girl. with a big heart, and a voice to be heard. some days I stand tall, I have dreams and convictions. other days im so small, and get lost in the mix in. trying to grow but keeping my heart young, trying to move but not wanting to run. hoping I go somewhere fast, somewhere big. somedays I just want to runaway, just to live.

MADNESS.

My job is not one of those jobs you walk into, say hi to everyone, get a life update, start doing some random tasks and maybe cleaning, NO. My job is like double dutch. When you're on, you jump in the ropes like a fool and hop around until you're off [or on a break], at which point you jump back out with the same enthusiasm as when you entered.

There's no moment of relaxation, boredom, or down time at my job.

Im not gonna lie, I love it. But also, it's just madness.

Today we had about 30 drink orders lined up on the bar waiting to be made. As Jon shouted orders over the 40+ people in our lobby and Ashley shouted them back, I felt like we were drowning. Slowly things started to fall apart. First the soy milk ran out.... then the 2%.... then 70 $10 gift cards... and I felt helpless.

But the thing is, we werent drowning, everyone kept their composure. All this to say, we are an incredible team. When you jump into the ropes there's already 4 other people doing the dutch and are anticipating helping you out. Everyone has their part, everyone focuses on their part, and somehow it all works out. The system is incredible.

I never thought it would be so hard to just take care of one part. When I see something that needs to be done I just want to rush over and help but I have to rememeber that I have my part of the system, and I need to take care of it.

I've never been involved in a team like this, and Im interested to see where else this will end up applying in my life. {say perhaps, a 12 member family?}
