Disclaimer: this blog is extremely long

Matt and I had a great trip this last week. We were gone for a whole 12 days! It felt like forever! We had an interesting start though. Both Matt and I stayed up all night the night before we had to leave. He worked and I was just on the night schedule. So we took off at 7am and drove to Victoria and caught the 4pm ferry. We were both so tired when we got to Port Angeles because we had been up for 24 hours. I have been getting really dry eyes lately, so when I tried to drive I almost killed us because I was literally blinking every half second. It seriously felt like someone was blowing a fan in my eyes. So Matt pretty much drove the whole way. By the time we got to my parents house and went to bed we had been awake for 30+ hours, we were both pretty miserable.

Thanksgiving was the next day and we slept for probably 3/4 of the day (guess which part we were awake for). We decided we wanted to hit up the good sales on Black Friday but had to wait until 9am to exchange our Canadian money at the bank. Makenna and Jacob were up at 6am with us, it was good having some time to hang out with just them. Jacob was really sick all week, his eyes were glued shut with goop and dried snot covered the lower half of his face, so we gave him a a bath in the sink. And once Jacob was in the bath of course Makenna had to be in too.

Black Friday started off as a miserable experience. The American dollar is doing VERY well right now which means there is a big difference between it and the Canadian dollar. We wanted to exchange $2,000 Can., but the bank with the best exchanged rate (.85cents U.S. per Can. dollar)wouldn't let us exchange unless we were a member. We went to practically every bank in Olympia and heard the same story. We went back to Shelton without buying anything and ended up exchanging our money at Bank of America since I'm a memeber there. We lost about $250 when we exchanged $1,000. We decided to go back to the mall late that night just before it closed, which is when the day really turned around. There were no crowds, all the stores were restocked, and there were still really good sales going on. We were very happy.

We were supposed to have family portraits done as a surprise Christmas present for my parents on Saturday, but my mom was really sick and couldn't get out of bed, so Matt and I just ended up taking Makenna and Jacob to the Tumwater Historical Park to play and feed the ducks.

These ducks were ferocious.

Jacob loved to chase them and be in the middle of all of them, Makenna was scared to death and spent the entire time up on the hill, far far away. They really were scary though, you had to throw them a piece of bread every couple of seconds. They practically chased us around as we threw bread at them. I gave Jacob a piece to throw at them and he just held out his hand as one of them snatched it right from his fingers, that could have been a lot worse!

I love this picture of Makenna bolting and Jacob laughing.

Here are some more pictures from the park, Matt took most of these :)

Other highlights of the week were going to church, making my first lasagna and cheesecake and having dinner at Justin and Kristi's, getting to hang out with Molly, Martin, Lauree, Storm, Alexan, and Mandy at Urraco, finally applying for my passport (yay!), and finally going to the doctor and getting prescriptions for my acne, and more shopping for Christmas presents.

On Thursday we met up with Mandy and Josh at the Alderwood Mall theater to see the much awaited TWILIGHT! It was awesome, don't listen to Molly, you should go see it. Actually, you should read the books. We stayed in Everett with Levi for two nights and hung out with some Seattle/Renton friends. And then made our way up to Langley on Saturday for our good friends wedding. The wedding was beautiful and simple, we had a lot of fun with all of our friends. After the reception we partied late into the night. And by partied I mean we all took a nap while we watched Get Smart. Seriously, everyone fell asleep, lol, I wish I had some pictures of that.

And then yesterday we made our way home! It feels good to be home :)

(Notice the mannequin in the back with no pants, that' why were really taking the picture)
