I am really tired of people complaining that health care in this country is not free.

boo hoo.

I can't imagine what it is like to live in a country where you can't see a doctor when something is wrong. It must be so scary. Scary to know that you could possibly die from something that could be prevented or treated if only you had those things available to you. We are so lucky in the U.S. (okay and Canada) to have hospital's around every corner, doctors who are dedicated to healing sick people, and basic knowledge of prevention of some diseases and illnesses.

If cancer could be prevented, we wouldn't raise billions of dollars in fundraisers to find a cure for it; we would spend that money preventing it. AIDS is a disease that can often times be prevented (unless it is passed down genetically to children). The number of people with AIDS in the world should not be as high as it is, since contracting is usually by ignorance or accident.

Be thankful for how blessed you are to live in America, sometimes we get so down on the state of this country, but the truth is no matter how hard things get, we're still better off than most of the world. You may have to pay for your health care, but at least you have some available to you.

Most of us can't make a huge difference in health care around the world, but almost everyone can afford to sponsor a child (or give a gift) through World Vision (It is only $40 a month). No one can carry the entire worlds' economic issues on their back, but each of us can make sure we are contributing our part, however that may be.
