finally: the honeymoon

So, on our wedding night we went out to the Alderbrook Resort & Spa. Im sure most of you know where that is. It holds special meaning for us because it's where Matt proposed. The weather was perfect, along with the five star service. We spent time sitting by the water and at their outdoor cafe/restaurant. The food was amazing! And not too expensive either! We both had salmon and listened to the rich yuppies talk about their yachts, haha. That's not an exaggeration. And thanks to Zackfor the free ice cream sandwich!
We stayed for one more night and then took off to my parents house to pick up the rest of my stuff and say goodbye to everyone. We stopped in Olympia so I could get my name changed [that's right, say it out loud, Sara Reimer], and then made our way up to the border! We are use to being pulled into immigration every time we cross the border, it's nothing new. They were a little more hostile this time, however. We told them we were just married and that we planned on applying for my sponsorship as soon as possible. The woman didn't seem to believe that Matt had been living in Canada and I had been living in the states. She asked for some of my recent pay stubs [add that to the list of things you need to get out of the country!] which I didn't have. Luckily, that woman's shift ended and we were helped by a much more understanding man. He gave me official visitor status in Canada for a year. I can't work or go to school, but now we will be able to cross the border without any questions.
We were trying to catch the 3:15 ferry to Naniamo, but ended up missing that one. The next one was at 5:45 [I think].

After we got out of the car they made an announcement that the 5:45 ferry was still in Naniamo having problems, and it would be at least an hour behind schedule. They said anyone who wanted to could catch the 4:00 ferry to Victoria, so we did. Victoria is beautiful, but it is about a 5 hour drive to the place we had reservations for. Regardless, we ate dinner in Victoria and finally made it to Campbell River.
Matt had made reservations at the Oyster Bay Resort, which has really beautiful chalet's across the street from the ocean. We stayed there for five nights. Cooked some of our own food and went out just as much. We saw the Dark Knight and Wanted, both awesome! We made a fire on the beach because I was craving s'mores and bought stuff for our house, a lot of stuff. It was the most relaxing week ever.
